Week 5

We have had a great week. We were able to share the great progress we are making in our learning with our parents at interviews. We are also working hard at our dancing and singing practices - the parents are in for a real treat at the show in week 11.

Meet a very special member of Room 13. This is Mavis, our adventure loving moose who loves spending time with us outside of school. We will write about some of her exploits over the next few weeks. Then we will introduce you to one more member of the class.
In our Maths work this week we had to use 2 handfuls of cubes to design and create a building. We then compared our buildings to see whose had the greatest volume. We had to look at the width, depth and height of our building. We decided that although we might like to live in some of our designs they might not be very earthquake proof!

In Topic we have been looking at the power of water and how it can be used to do work. We looked carefully at water wheels and then made our own. We can cleverly work out the direction which the wheel will turn in from looking at the position of the 'buckets'! Then we looked at examples of this in action.

We are really enjoying our water topic and are moving down the river as we learn more about it!

A taste of Autumn poetry - we have been focusing on wow verbs.
Autumn
By Alice

Leaves in a trail,
Leaves all around,
Springing and fluttering,
Round and down they go,
Red and orange,
Sailing through the air.
Autumn Leaves
By Lucy F

Springing about the branch,
Leaves in the autumn,
Dying and sprinkling down.
